About the Placement
Chapter B is offering a part-time AI and Data Insights placement for a university student studying Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science or another related subject.
The placement student will help Chapter B understand its customer, enquiry and service data, improve internal systems and explore how artificial intelligence can support business decisions and customer service.
This is a supervised learning placement designed to help the student gain practical experience while applying knowledge from their university course. The placement will run from 1 September 2026 until 31 August 2027.
Main Responsibilities
The placement student may support Chapter B with:
- Collecting and organising business and customer enquiry data
- Cleaning and preparing data for analysis
- Analysing enquiry trends and customer needs
- Creating reports, charts and dashboards
- Identifying patterns in customer behaviour and service demand
- Supporting data-led business decisions
- Exploring responsible uses of artificial intelligence within Chapter B
- Researching AI tools that could improve customer support and internal operations
- Supporting website and enquiry system improvements
- Assisting with the automation of repetitive administrative tasks
- Reviewing the accuracy and quality of company data
- Presenting findings and recommendations to the placement supervisor
- Documenting projects, methods and learning outcomes
- Supporting the development of internal AI and data procedures
Possible Placement Projects
The student may work on projects such as:
- Analysing which Chapter B service packages receive the most enquiries
- Understanding where customers are travelling from
- Identifying common customer questions and support needs
- Creating a customer enquiry and insights dashboard
- Developing a system for categorising different enquiries
- Exploring an AI-supported customer service assistant
- Improving how Chapter B stores and uses business data
- Measuring website and enquiry conversion performance
- Forecasting future demand for relocation services
- Creating simple automated reports for the Chapter B management team

Skills and Requirements
Applicants should:
- Be studying Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science or a related degree
- Have an interest in AI, data and business development
- Have basic knowledge of data analysis
- Be willing to learn new tools and systems
- Be able to work independently with appropriate supervision
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be organised and able to meet agreed deadlines
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and data protection
Experience with Python, Excel, Power BI, SQL, machine learning or data visualisation tools would be helpful but is not essential.
Supervision and Support
The placement student will receive:
- A named company supervisor
- An agreed placement learning plan
- Regular supervision meetings
- Clear projects and learning objectives
- Progress reviews during the placement
- A midpoint and final performance review
- Support with university placement documentation
- A placement completion letter, subject to satisfactory completion
Important Eligibility Requirement
This opportunity is offered as an unpaid university placement only.
The applicant must be enrolled on a UK university course where the placement is formally approved as a required or recognised part of their degree.
The placement cannot begin until the applicant's university has:
- Approved Chapter B as the placement provider
- Approved the placement role
- Approved the part-time working hours
- Approved the placement dates from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027
- Confirmed that the placement forms part of the student's university course
- Completed any required placement agreement or documentation
Applicants who do not receive formal written university approval cannot begin this role as an unpaid placement. The placement offer must remain conditional until all university approval, right-to-work, insurance and placement documents have been completed.
